Print Ready PDF Export Settings

Below are step-by-step instructions on how to create a print ready PDF from Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress and Adobe Acrobat Distiller.

Adobe InDesign

Getting Started

1. Download the MitchellAdobe.joboptions file.
2. Launch Adobe InDesign if it isn’t already running.
3. Go to File > Adobe PDF Presets > Define
4. Click Load.
5. Navigate to the MitchellAdobe.joboptions file(s) you downloaded in step 1.
6. Click Done.

Exporting PDF's

1. Open the InDesign document you’d like to export.
2. Ensure your file meets our File Production Tips.
3. Go to File > Export
4. Choose a name and location for your PDF.
5. Navigate to the the MitchellAdobe or MitchellAdobe_Book file you downloaded in step 1.
6. Choose the Adobe PDF (print) format if applicable.
7. Click Save.
8. In the Adobe PDF Preset, select MitchellAdobe or MitchellAdobe_Book.
9. Click Export.

QuarkXPress

Getting Started

1. Download the MitchellQuark file here.
2. Launch QuarkXPress if it isn’t already running.
3. Go to Edit > Output Styles
4. Click Import.
5. Navigate to the MitchellQuark or MitchellQuarkBook file you downloaded in step 1.
6. Click Open.

Exporting PDF's

1. Open the QuarkXPress document you’d like to export.
2. Ensure your file meets our File Production Tips.
3. Go to File > Export > Layout as PDF
4. Choose a name and location for your PDF.
5. Choose MitchellQuark or MitchellQuark_Book under PDF Style.
6. Click Save.

Acrobat Distiller

Before Getting Started

Adobe Acrobat Distiller converts Postscript files into PDF's. It is possible to create Postscript files from virtually any program. However, the old adage is true, bad files in equals bad files out. Please follow our File Production Tips while building your files.

Getting Started

1. Download the MitchellAdobe.joboptions file.
2. Launch Adobe Acrobat Distiller if it isn’t already running.
3. Go to Settings > Add Adobe PDF settings
4. Navigate to the appropriate MitchellAdobe.joboptions file you downloaded in step 1.
5. Click Open.

Exporting PDF's

1. Launch Adobe Acrobat Distiller if it isn’t already running.
2. In the Adobe PDF Settings window that opens, select the MitchellAdobe or MitchellAdobe_Book setting.
3. Go to File > Open
4. Navigate to the file you want the PDF created for.
5. Click Open.
6. When the progress bar reaches 100% your PDF is created and placed in the same folder as your original file.
